Uses: UTIs caused by Escherichia coli, Proteus mirabilis, and Klebsiella. Skin and skin structure infections due to staphylococci or streptococci. Pharyngitis and tonsillitis due to group A beta-hemolytic streptococci. Prevention of bacterial endocarditis in patients who cannot tolerate or are allergic to penicillin. Note: Ce-phalosporins should not be used in individuals with immediate-type hy-persensitivity reactions to penicillins. Contraindications: See also Cephalosporins.
