Each 5 mL of the 200 Powder for Oral Suspension contains 200 mg amoxicillin and 28.5 mg potassium clavulanate. Each 5 mL of the '250' Powder for Oral Suspension contains 250 mg amoxicillin and 62.5 mg potassium clavulanate. Each 5 mL of the 400 Powder or the 400 Powder for Oral Suspension contains 400 mg amoxicillin and 57 mg potassium clavulanate. Action/Kinetics: For details, see amoxicillin. Potassium clavulanate inactivates lactamase enzymes, which are responsible for resistance to penicillins. Thus, is effective against microorganisms that have manifested resistance to amoxicillin. For potassium clavulanate: Peak serum levels: 1-2 hr. tVi: 1 hr.

Uses: For beta-lactamase-producing strains of the following organisms: Hemophilus influenzae and Moraxella catarrhalis causing lower respiratory tract infections, otitis media, and sinusitis; Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, and Klebsiella, causing skin and skin structure infections; E. coli, Klebsiella, and Enterobacter, causing UTI. Note: Mixed infections caused by organisms susceptible to ampicillin and organisms susceptible to amoxicillin/potassium clavulanate should not require an additional antibiotic. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to pencillins. Clavulanate K-asso-ciated cholestatic and/or liver dysfunction.

Special Concerns: Hypersensitivity to cephalosporins. Liver impairment. Side Effects: See also Anti-Infectives and Penicillins. Drug Interactions Allupurinol / T Risk of skin rashes Probenecid / T Amoxicillin concentrations
