Consultation with Primary Care Provider

1. Consultation with the oncologist may be necessary. Prophylactic antibiotics may be necessary to prevent infection if surgery or deep scaling is required.

2. Patients with symptoms of blood dyscrasias should be referred to their primary care provider for complete blood counts. Treatment should be postponed until the results are known.

3. Consultation may be necessary in order to evaluate the patient's level of disease control.

4. Consultation may be necessary in order to determine the patient's ability to tolerate stress.
