George Sachs is a professor of the Department of Medicine and Physiology at the University of California at Los Angeles and Wilshire Chair in Medicine at University of California at Los Angeles. He has been Director of the Membrane Biology Laboratory and has a concurrent appointment with the Veterans Administration Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System in West Los Angeles since 1982. He received his BSc degree in 1957, his MB and ChB in 1960, and his DSc in 1980, all from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. He received an honorary MD from the Medical Faculty of Gothenburg University, Sweden in 1996.

Jai Moo Shin is an associate researcher of the Department of Physiology at the University of California at Los Angeles. He joined the Membrane Biology Laboratory in 1990. He received his PhD degree in 1986 from Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology in the Republic of Korea, and has worked at the University of California at Los Angeles since 1990.
