Stimulation of pancreatic acinar cell secretion of zymogens, in response to amino acids and fatty acids in the duodenum;
Potentiation of the primary effects of secretin;
Stimulation of contraction of smooth muscle of gall bladder, for which it is the major hormonal regulator;
Relaxation of the sphincter of Oddi, which allows bile to enter the duodenum;
Stimulation of contraction of pylorus to slow gastric emptying;
Satiation of the appetite via activation of CCK-A gut receptors and vagal pathways projecting to the nucleus of the tractus solitarius, the lateral para-branchial nucleus, amygdala, and higher sites. This leads to suppression of food intake.
