Fibrin Glue Components

These products are produced as two separate solutions.

1. Lypholized pooled human fibrinogen/factor XIII concentrate (reconstituted with aprotinin)

2. Bovine thrombin (reconstituted with 40 mM CaCl2)

The combination of these two components then can form a stable clot. The essential components to fibrin glue are fibrinogen, thrombin and calcium. Factor XIII is also required but endogenous factor is usually sufficient to induce clot formation.
