Liver Tumor Ablation

William R. Wrightson

Liver cancer remains a significant cause of cancer mortality. The majority of these lesions are metastatic with colorectal metastasis accounting for over 60%. Median survival of these lesions is limited with a 5-12 months reported in the literature. Ultimately, the 5 year survival with surgery is 30-45%. Unfortunately only 25-30% of patients with these lesions are resectable and 5-15% with primary hepa-tocellular carcinoma are resectable. Innovative strategies have been developed to improve treatment.
