Respiratory Alkalosis

This results in an increase in the respiratory rate with a loss of CO2 (PaCO2< 40) Causes are pain, emotional excitement, hypoxia, fever, respiratory compensation in response to metabolic acidosis. Renal compensation is decreased H+ excretion and decreased HCO3- reabsorption.
