Bone Marrow Transplantation

In an initial limited pilot study, six patients received autologous bone marrow transplantation (ABMT) (68). They had no life-threatening infections. Only two patients were alive without disease one year after transplantation. There also have been more favorable reports in high grade malignant lymphoma with primary skin involvement going into complete remission lasting for 2-4+ years after high dose chemotherapy, total body irradiation and autologous bone marrow transplantation (69-71). Patients with poor prognosis of CTCL can undergo ABMT without developing life-threatening infections and even achieve prolonged complete recovery.

Allo-bone marrow transplantation also has been reported as highly effective treatment for advanced poor-prognosis lymphoid malignancies with acceptable toxicity (72).
