There is a dense, diffuse, confluent dermal infiltrate extending to the subcutaneous tissue. The infiltrate is pleomorphic, consisting of abnormal myeloid cells with oval to angulated nuclei and small nucleoli (Fig. 2). The infiltrates tend to be centered about blood vessels and adnexal structures and either grow as cellular sheets or track along individual collagen bundles (4). The lesions are occasionally associated with an inflammatory infiltrate, which includes eosinophils, neutrophils, and small lymphocytes.
