The contracted lymphoid follicles are visualized with CD21 and CD35 antibodies (often as a CD21/CD35 antibody cocktail) directed against the C3d and C3b receptors, respectively. Other markers specific for follicular dendritic cells, namely KiM4p, KiM4, KiFDClp, and R4/23 may be used (10-12). The small lymphocytes around the germinal centers are polyclonal B cells. The interfollicular histiocytes stain for CD68 and MAC 387. In addition, clusters of S-100+, CDla, T cells, and occasional CD30+ cells are seen in the interfollicular zones.
