In addition, there are two types of cells with hybrid cell function and phenotype between phagocytes and dendritic cells (transitional cells), namely plasmacytoid monocytes and sinus-lining cells. The classification of the histiocytoses is still a matter of discussion. In 1987, the Writing Group of the Histiocyte Society (10) classified the histiocytoses into three classes:
