Practical administration issues

Whilst it is important to put time and effort into getting the design of the QL aspect of a trial correct, it is perhaps even more important that practical administration issues are addressed, to ensure that the quantity and quality of data collected are sufficient to answer the questions posed.

QL data have to be collected prospectively, unlike some clinical data that can often be extracted from patients' notes, and so it is essential that local QL coordinators are identified in each centre, and that they are fully versed on all aspects of QL collection in the trial.
