Granulomatous (hypertrophic) stage: nasal mucosa is bluish red and granular, with formation of rubbery nodules or polyps in the nose; epistaxis; deformity and destruction of the nasal cartilage (Hebra nose); thickened soft palate, with erythematous, crusted papules or nodules Sclerotic stage: nodules replaced by fibrous tissue, leading to scarring and stenosis
