Conclusion

It has been the purpose of this discussion to examine the need for quality control programs in flow cytometry and to offer a realistic, day-to-day approach that allows for excellent quality control as well as time and cost savings. The necessity of quality control as a tool in providing accurate results and as an aid in troubleshooting has been described. Future progress will entail the continued development of materials to provide more accurate assessments of the appropriate parameters. This will allow for more confident interpretation of the most complex of data.
